Courts, claims offices and roads that matter from Palm Springs

Coachella Valley injury lawsuits are filed with the Superior Court of California, County of Riverside. The court's desert region includes the Palm Springs Courthouse on East Tahquitz Canyon Way and the Larson Justice Center in Indio; which courthouse takes a filing depends on the court's current filing-location order, which we check for each case.

Claims against public bodies go to their own offices, generally within six months for an injury (Government Code section 911.2): the City of Palm Springs City Clerk, the clerks of the other valley cities for their streets and parks, the County of Riverside's Clerk of the Board of Supervisors for County property, and Caltrans or the State's Government Claims Program for Interstate 10, Highway 111 and State Route 74. General information only; confirm the deadline for your situation with an attorney.

The roads behind most desert matters are Palm Canyon Drive and East Palm Canyon Drive, Indian Canyon Drive, Tahquitz Canyon Way, Ramon Road, Vista Chino, Gene Autry Trail, Dinah Shore Drive and Bob Hope Drive, Highway 111 through Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, La Quinta and Indio, and the Interstate 10 interchanges. Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs is the Coachella Valley's Level I trauma center; Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage and John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio are Level IV.

Questions

Palm Springs meetings are scheduled in advance. If travel is hard, ask about meeting by phone; all three offices work the same files.

Yes. A claim generally follows where the injury happened, so a California claim can proceed while you are home. Deadlines still apply, including six months to present a claim to a public entity (Government Code section 911.2).

In the Superior Court of California, County of Riverside, at the desert-region courthouse the court designates for that kind of case. We confirm the current location before filing.
